Professor Bonventre will review the major decisions of the Supreme Court’s term dealing with criminal law (e.g., search and seizure, ineffective counsel, prisoners’ rights), civil rights and liberties (e.g., religious liberty, non-establishment, affirmative action), and other areas of public law (e.g., presidential powers).  He will also examine patterns in the Court’s decisions and in the Justices’ voting.

This update will cover significant decisions in New York Negligence and Tort Law decided from September 2013 through August 2014.  The emphasis will be upon New York Court of Appeals decisions.  Among the areas covered will be automobile liability, municipal liability, premises liability, medical malpractice, labor law liability, and legal malpractice.
