Alumni Volunteers Sought for Mentoring Program

The Office of Alumni Affairs and the National Alumni Association invite alumni to participate in the Alumni Initiative in Mentoring (AIM) program.  This program assists first-year students by matching them one-on-one with alumni mentors who provide general advice and guidance about law school and the practice of law. As a mentor, you are not only able to provide advice about the law school experience, but your involvement demonstrates the strong network of Albany Law School alumni. It is clear to all who participate in this program that the Albany Law connection last a lifetime.

We are seeking Alumni from all geographic regions and practice areas (including non-legal practice) to participate in this program. Once matched, mentors and students are free to communicate informally via e-mail, telephone, and/or in person. Some mentors and students communicate exclusively by e-mail or phone; others meet at offices, grab coffee, attend court proceedings, and even attend networking and social events together. The Alumni Office is planning a Welcome to the Program Reception on September 15^th to provide mentors and students an opportunity to meet.

If you are interested in being a mentor, please take a moment to complete this Mentor Form 10-11 and return it to the Alumni Office no later than Friday, July 30. Last year, we had 138 students and 124 mentors from across the country participate in the AIM program. We expect to have just as many students looking for mentors for the 2010-2011 academic year, possibly more. Details regarding the Welcome Reception will follow upon receipt of your participation form.
